If all the below statements describe you and your current situation, you can apply for the WIL Scholarship:
- I am in need of financial support, (i.e. receiving Centrelink payments)
- I have, am or will complete a WIL or placement of at least 1 week (or 36 hours) which is greater than 50km away from my semester residential address; and I am relocating from my semester residential address to undertake WIL/placement
- I am an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder
- I am a part time or full time student, enrolled in an undergraduate degree
- I have a current GPA of at least 4.00
- I have completed or have a confirmed placement of at least 1 week (or 36 hours) arranged within the 2024 academic year
- I am not in receipt of any other scholarship equal to or greater than $2500 per teaching period.
As funding is limited, scholarships will be allocated to those students who demonstrate the greatest need for financial support and without this funding would be unable to complete their placement.
Should students be enrolled in multiple placements concurrently in the 2024 academic year and were relocated from usual place of residence for a prolonged period of time, please submit all documentation upon applying.
Prior to completing an application, you should carefully read the Scholarship Rules below. Applicants wanting to apply for this scholarship must attach the following documents to their application, as well as those documents indicated in the application:
- Confirmation of placement.
- Receipts for travel, accommodation or any additional costs.
- Evidence of income. See Examples of Supporting documentation
- Any other supporting documentation that would assist the Selection Committee in assessing the merit of the application.
When applying for a scholarship it is very important that you answer all the questions and include all relevant documents. Your application and relevant documents must be submitted before the closing date. If an application is incomplete, it will not be considered.
Your application is checked for completeness and eligibility, and you will receive an email confirmation after it has been received. After the closing date it will be individually assessed and put forward to a selection committee who will rank your application against others who have applied.
Being eligible does not guarantee a scholarship
If you meet the scholarship eligibility criteria it doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be awarded a scholarship. There are a limited number of Scholarships and there are often more applicants than scholarships.
Applicants are ranked against eligibility criteria and then scholarships are awarded to applicants who best meet that eligibility criteria. If you’re unsuccessful it doesn’t mean that you’re not in need; rather, it means that there are other applicants who’ve been assessed as being in greater need. You may still be eligible to re-apply in the future.
Payments to eligible applicants will be made in one instalment within four weeks after acceptance of the award.
