Le Koeniger, baptised under the name “Lucy”, was born in Malaysia and upon graduating devoted her time to teaching, and helping students in her community, to nurture the next generation. Whilst travelling abroad she met her husband, Ray Koeniger, and later moved to Australia; her home for over 60 years.

Lucy Le inspired friends and family with her selflessness. She was a quiet but firm supporter of those in need, and would never place herself first, even after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, instead opting to support researchers in their search for a cure. Her wish was to help create a world where no one would have to lose a loved one to cancer through improving early detection and treatment methods.

Our family is aware of the financial struggle that students may encounter when going on placement, and this grant has been setup to provide financial support for students to access education opportunities towards oncology research. It is our hope that through this grant that Lucy Le’s passion for education and selflessness will inspire future generations to make her wish a reality.
