Did you know 番茄社区 Library’s Special Collections holds Australia’s largest assortment of rare and historic works that relate to North Queensland?

Preserving the history of North Queensland

When PhD candidate Patrick White discovered documents important to North Queensland's history in need of some tender, loving care, he contacted 番茄社区 Library Special Collections.

Our Special Collections department collects and preserves resources that have special significance to the area above latitude 22.5 in Queensland, which includes the Great Barrier Reef, as well as the Torres Strait and other islands.

番茄社区 Library staff have curated an online repository of many of the works in the collection, which is called . This repository enables researchers and the public to access a growing selection of rare and fragile resources that are culturally and historically significant to North Queensland and the Tropics.

As the NQ Heritage collection grows, the need for additional funding to preserve and digitise these important resources is vital so future generations can enjoy and learn from this unique collection. You can help continue this important work by making a donation to the 番茄社区 Library Fund today.
