Admission Requirements

Course pre-requisites

Completion of a pass degree in Pharmacy from this or any other university within the last three years.

Normally students will have achieved a GPA of not less than 5.0 calculated over the four levels of the pass degree.

Minimum English language proficiency requirements

Applicants of non-English speaking backgrounds must meet the English language proficiency requirements of Band 3a Schedule II of the ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø Admissions Policy.

Students also need to take note that in accordance with the National Registration Board’s requirement, they must hold a valid IELTS (academic module) minimum overall score of 7.5 with a minimum of 7 in each of the four components within 2 years prior to applying for registration upon graduation

Additional selection requirements

Students may be required to undertake work additional to the pass degree before commencing honours.

Special admission requirements

A quota may be imposed on the number of students accepted for entry to the honours course depending on the availability of supervisors.

The graduate course is not available to those who have previously been awarded the Pharmacy honours degree.

Post admission requirements

Depending on the area of research and/or professional experience placement activities, students must comply with the relevant mandatory pre-placement requirements of the University and the Host facility. Students must complete all professional experience placement requirements by the prescribed deadlines and maintain currency of all requirements throughout their enrolment in the course.

On successful completion, graduates of the course will be able to:

  • Integrate and apply a coherent and advanced body of theoretical and technical knowledge and skills, with depth in the underlying principles and concepts in the discipline of Pharmacy

  • Critically review, analyse, synthesise and evaluate evidence and scientific literature to identify and propose solutions to complex problems with intellectual independence

  • Apply knowledge of research principles to plan and execute a piece of scientific research with some independence

  • Communicate clearly and coherently through advanced English language and numeracy proficiency, verbal presentation skills and computer literacy (including word processing, databases, graphics and statistical packages), a clear and coherent exposition of knowledge and ideas to a variety of audiences

  • Reflect on current skills, knowledge and attitudes, in order to plan and implement ongoing personal and professional development needs.
