The Mayo Lecture is an annual event run by the College of Business, Law and Governance in conjunction with the in honour of Mrs Marylyn Mayo, ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø's foundation law staff member. The ·¬ÇÑÉçÇøLSS instituted the Mayo Lecture in 1991 as a tribute to Marylyn's work in maintaining a law presence at ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø and, ultimately, in establishing the full law degree here.
Recent Mayo Lectures have been delivered by:
- Dr Bryan Keon-Cohen, on the topic 'From Slavery to Sovereignty? Mabo, Native Title and the Uluru Statement from the Heart';
- Justice Lincoln Crowley - Queensland's inaugural First Nations Justice of the Supreme Court.
- The Honourable Justice Michael Kirby, on the topic 'Nuclear Proliferation and the Singapore Summit: A Challenge to International Law';
- Mr Anthony Morris QC, on the topic 'Human rights under siege on all sides: The combined onslaught of Terrorism, Political Correctness and the Dictatorship of Bureaucracy';
