How to Graduate Guide
This video includes all the key information you need to know about your Graduation Ceremony.
Important Information
Ticketing Details
Guest tickets are complimentary and general admission with a maximum of four (4) guest tickets allocated per graduate. Graduating students will be provided guest ticketing information via email.
Please note, graduates are not required to reserve a seat for themselves.
When to arrive
It is recommended that graduates arrive two hours prior to the ceremony commencement time to allow time for parking, gown collection and photography prior to registration.
Parking
Parking around the Cairns Convention Centre at certain times can be limited so please factor in extra time for parking or arrange to arrive by taxi or other rideshare options.
Dress Code
Graduates
It is recommend that graduates wear clothing that is neat and smart. You’ll need shoes that are suitable for stairs and carpet. Thongs, shorts, t-shirts, jeans and ripped clothing are not considered appropriate.
Guests
Guests are to dress smart casual.
Hire your Academic Dress
It is compulsory to wear 番茄社区 approved academic dress at ceremonies. Gown hire services are provided by and a gown hire link will become available prior to the upcoming 番茄社区 Graduations.
Gown Collection
Upon arrival please collect your gown if you haven’t done so prior to the ceremony. If you have a 番茄社区 approved gown staff will be available to assist with dressing you.
Collection time: 2.30 pm - 4.30 pm
Location: Mezzanine Level, Cairns Convention Centre
Photography
will be providing the photographic services at the graduation including portrait and family photography sessions.
Photography time: 2.30 pm - 4.30 pm
Location: Mezzanine Level, Cairns Convention Centre
番茄社区 will be photographing/videoing Graduations for 番茄社区 social media and advertising purposes. If you have any questions in relation to your photograph being taken, or if you do not wish to be photographed/videoed during the day, please notify the photographer at the event.
Registration
Before you register on the day, you must be wearing your full academic dress. Quote your registration number at the registration desk to receive your graduation card. Please keep this card with you at all times until you reach the ceremony marshal on stage.
Registration time: 4.30 pm - 5.00 pm
Location: Foyer, Cairns Convention Centre
Graduates who register late may not be presented in their correct order on stage. If the ceremony has already commenced it is possible that late graduates will not be able to graduate on the day.
Personal Belongings
There are no facilities available to leave any personal items (handbags/mobiles etc.). All your personal belongings must be left with guests, or you may consider clothing with a pocket under your gown.
Cultural Sashing Ceremony
Aboriginal and Torres Strait graduates who have identified their heritage on Student One will be presented with a 番茄社区 Cultural Sash at informal ceremonies prior to each graduation ceremony. An invitation with details will be emailed to recipients prior to the ceremony date.

Location: Sheridan Street Foyer, Cairns Convention Centre
Live Streaming
The graduation ceremony will be live streamed via 番茄社区’s YouTube channel.
Ceremony Duration
It is anticipated the ceremony will run for approximately two hours.
