Welcome to the Daintree Rainforest Observatory’s live wildlife camera feeds. Throughout the year, we showcase a variety of nature cameras positioned across different parts of the rainforest. Depending on the season and notable natural events, the cameras we feature may vary, allowing you to witness the most interesting and timely wildlife activities. When live feeds are not available, we provide recorded footage from our cameras to ensure you never miss a moment of the fascinating biodiversity in the Daintree Rainforest. Enjoy an up-close look at the unique behaviours and interactions of our rainforest inhabitants.
Live Stream: Osprey nest on top of the DRO Canopy crane
Join us for a live view of the ospreys at the Daintree Rainforest Observatory as they rebuild their nest on the tip of the 55-meter long jib of our canopy crane. This pair, believed to be the same breeding pair over the years, has made this site their long-term home, bringing continuity and a unique insight into their life cycle. Tune in to watch these majestic birds as they prepare their nest for the upcoming breeding season, lay their eggs, and nurture their chicks amidst the stunning backdrop of the Daintree Rainforest. Follow their journey and witness firsthand the resilience and beauty of these fascinating birds.
Live View from the Canopy Crane Tower at Daintree Rainforest Observatory
Experience breathtaking panoramic views of the Daintree Rainforest from our camera mounted atop the 47-meter high canopy crane tower. This unique vantage point captures the expansive beauty of the rainforest, with Mount Sorrow forming a majestic backdrop. Depending on the camera's direction, viewers can also glimpse the Cape Tribulation headland and the sparkling waters of the Coral Sea. This live feed brings you closer to the lush landscapes and serene beauty of one of the world's oldest rainforests, offering a peaceful escape into nature from anywhere in the world. Tune in to explore the rich biodiversity and stunning scenery of the Daintree, updated in real time.
Video: Striped Possum’s Long Tongue in Action!
Catch a quick glimpse of a striped possum (Dactylopsila trivirgata) as it yawns and showcases its long tongue in this brief video from the Daintree Rainforest Observatory. Captured via a camera inside our nestbox, this footage provides insight into the unique adaptations of one of Australia's secretive nocturnal creatures. The striped possum uses its elongated tongue to extract insects and other small invertebrates from narrow crevices in trees, allowing it to access food sources that might be inaccessible to other predators.
