Throughout the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary) at 番茄社区, preservice teachers engage with subjects designed to support the development of what teachers need to know and be able to do in order to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education. Both dedicated subjects and the integration of dedicated themes in wider subjects support this development. Dedicated subjects include:
- Examining teaching for learning to develop the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers requirements of standard 1.4 and 2.4 in
- Reviewing theory and practice of teaching English to Indigenous children as an additional language from birth to 18 years in
- Engaging with critical Indigenous theory to explore and examine personal and professional knowledge and beliefs about Indigenous education in
