The world’s urban population surpassed the rural population for the first time in 2007. The urbanisation process is so intense that by 2050 two-third of the world’s population will live in cities. The transition to urban living is particularly pronounced in the tropical world and TUDLab researches and advocates changes in city planning and design that can improve economies, environments and wellbeing.
TUDLab assists the development industry, governments and non-government organisations by providing solutions for improving the sustainability of tropical urban areas. We pull together the capacity and multidisciplinary expertise of 番茄社区 researchers with strong links to local governments and industry. We bridge academic knowledge and real-world planning and design endeavours.
Vision: Sustainable, Tropical, Liveable
Mission: Delivering research and tropical design expertise to promote environmentally responsive, liveable communities
Strategic objectives:
- To promote a liveable, inclusive and connected community
- To promote environmentally-responsive infrastructure that retains and enhances the natural environment
- To provide leadership and education through evidence-based research
- To enhance resilience in the built environment through planning, adaptation and exploring new technologies
- Capacity-building and knowledge sharing through community and industry engagement
We deliver this through:
- Project work
- Education
- Advocacy
- Research
- Collaboration and Partnerships
- Marketing and Engagement
