Director
Victoria is an Associate Professor in 番茄社区’s College of Arts, Society and Education. She is an active researcher in three key areas: the literary and cultural history of colonial modernity and the Pacific; scholarship of teaching and learning, with a focus on regional students, regional higher education, and the Bachelor of Arts; and creative writing.
Roderick Associate Professor of English Literature
Roger’s research centres on Australian literature and British Modernism through the lens of book history, print culture, and scholarly editing. He is a contributing editor to the Cambridge Edition of the works of Joseph Conrad. In 2023 his work The Life of Such is Life: A Cultural History of an Australian Classic, was joint winner of the 2023 Walter McRae Russell Award for literary scholarship.
Dr Nicole Crowe
Program Advisor
Nicole is a writer and communications specialist based at 番茄社区’s Bebegu Yumba campus. She holds a PhD in Creative Writing and has over fifteen years’ experience in marketing and communications across the university and government sectors. Nicole brings her enthusiasm for connecting and promoting writers across north and far north Queensland to her role as Program Advisor.
Research Officer
Elizabeth’s research explores regionalism, ecocriticism, and representations of the wet tropics. She is published in Meanjin, JASAL, TEXT, and Georgic Literature and the Environment: Working Land, Reworking Genre. In 2023, she worked collaboratively on the ARC-funded National Newspaper Fiction Database. Her recent PhD thesis, completed at 番茄社区, is titled Re-Imagining the Australian Farm Novel: Writing Magic Realism into the Georgic.
