2010 College Recipient, College of Public Health, Medical and Veterinary Sciences
Dr Andy Carroll, was Australian Chief Veterinary Officer and a Masters of Science graduate of this University, which was conferred in 1985, and had been supervised by the Foundation Professor of 番茄社区’s Graduate School of Tropical Veterinary Science Professor Rod Campbell.
Dr Carroll received his undergraduate veterinary science degree from the University of Queensland in 1978 and was a District Veterinary Officer with the Queensland Government working in Rockhampton, Emerald and Chinchilla until 1985 when he joined the Australian public service.
His work involved BTEC management, endemic disease policy, and import and export operations. He served as scientific editor for the Bureau of Rural Sciences and was Secretary for both the Animal Health Committee and the Animal Production Committee - joint Commonwealth/State/Territory committees which co-ordinated policy approaches across governments.
In 2001, he was appointed to the Commonwealth Senior Executive Service holding senior positions with the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service and was appointed Australian Chief Veterinary Officer in 2007. Dr Carroll retired from this position in 2011.
