Adjunct Professor Betsy Jackes – Member (AM) of the Order of Australia - For significant service to botany, to conservation, and to tertiary education.
Professor Edward Strivens – Staff Member – Member (AM) of the Order of Australia - For significant service to geriatric medicine, and to professional organisations
Dame Carol Kidu – Hon Doctor of Letters (2017) Officer (AO) of the Order of Australia - For distinguished service to human rights, to community development, and to international relations.
Former Senator Margaret Reynolds – Dip Sp Ed (1979) Companion (AC) of the Order of Australia - For eminent service to the people and Parliament of Australia, to social justice, gender equality and Indigenous rights, to local government, and to the community.
Adjunct Associate Professor Adam Smith, who received an Australia Day Award from Townsville City Council in recognition of his work relating to the environment and sustainability.
