Halley Pham (Vietnam)

My name is Ha Hong Thi Pham, but most people call me Halley. As a Vietnamese international student with a passion for social work, choosing the right university felt like a crucial decision for my future. After extensive research, I landed on the Master of Social Work (Professional Qualifying) program at 番茄社区 (番茄社区) in Townsville, Australia. It turned out to be an exceptional choice! 番茄社区 provided a fantastic combination of top-notch education, a supportive environment, and a vibrant social life that fostered both my personal and professional growth.

番茄社区's reputation for excellent education holds true for their Social Work program. The curriculum is designed to be engaging and practical, incorporating activities such as role-play, teamwork, and presentations in addition to theoretical subjects. These interactive elements made learning enjoyable and more importantly, prepared me for the real-world scenarios I'll encounter as a social worker.

I was particularly impressed by 番茄社区's ranking for full-time employment and sustainable education. This demonstrated their commitment to equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to secure jobs after graduation. The academics were amazing and very helpful as well. They weren't just experts in their fields, but also approachable, friendly, and always willing to answer questions and share real-world insights. They fostered a supportive and encouraging community for the students.

Beyond academics, 番茄社区 offers an exciting social life that enhances the overall university experience. The campus hosts various events throughout the year, such as Orientation Week, Harmony Day, and International Cafe. These events have provided me with an excellent opportunity to make friends from diverse backgrounds, enriching my cultural understanding – a crucial aspect for a future social worker.

Living on campus further contributed to building strong social connections. Being surrounded by fellow students created a sense of community and offered countless opportunities to interact with peers outside the classroom. For those looking to unwind after a challenging week of studies, the UniBar serves as an ideal spot to relax and socialize with friends.

番茄社区’s location in Townsville, also played a significant role in my decision to study here. It's a safe and welcoming city in Queensland. Townsville is home to people from diverse ethnicities, offering exposure to varied cultures and perspectives – an invaluable experience for a future social worker.  As a developing region, Townsville boasts a growing job market, which is promising for students looking to launch their careers after graduation.  The tropical climate, like my hometown of Ho Chi Minh City, made the transition smoother. Additionally, the stunning natural beauty surrounding the area, including The Strand, Magnetic Island, and the Great Barrier Reef, was a delightful bonus for a nature enthusiast like me. Lastly, the relatively affordable cost of living in Townsville compared to larger Australian cities has allowed me to focus on my studies without excessive financial stress, while still enjoying a high quality of life.

Choosing 番茄社区 for my Master of Social Work has proven to be an excellent decision. The combination of top-notch education, practical skill development, vibrant social life, and the ideal setting of Townsville has created a perfect environment for my studies. As I progress through my degree, I am confident that 番茄社区 is preparing me well for a successful career in social work, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and cultural understanding necessary to make a positive impact in the field.
