1. Why did you choose to study at 番茄社区?
番茄社区 has an impeccable reputation for producing work-ready medical graduates. The focus on rural medicine initially attracted me to the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. I aspire to follow the Rural Generalist Pathway in the future and work in the northern outback of Australia. I am living my dream by studying Medicine at 番茄社区. I also like that 番茄社区 has a plethora of student clubs to enjoy student life outside of studying medicine.
2. What has been the highlight of your study experience at 番茄社区 so far?
Being a member of Club RHINO (Rural Health in Northern Outback) visit to the Royal Flyer Doctor Service provided me with the opportunity to explore various rural areas in Queensland. I proudly represented 番茄社区 in Gulf kids Day hosted by Gulf Savannah NRM. We visited different primary schools in remote areas to educate the students about healthy eating habits, exercising to stay fit and most importantly the significance of hand hygiene in disease prevention.
Rayana Mabshura Oeyshi's participating in the program at the Teddy Bear Hospital.
My best moment was visiting the Royal Flying Doctors Service Cairns base in the 2021 RHINO trip. I love working with children and being part of the Teddy Bear Hospital program has been a highlight of my medicine course so far, which promotes health literacy to kindergarten students. I created unforgettable memories on my health elective placements in sports medicine with Dr Chris. The extensive hours of rural placements in my course give all students ample hands-on clinical experience.
What are your career goals?
As a future health professional, I want to contribute to working toward bridging the health inequity in rural areas in northern outback regions of Australia.
4. What piece of advice would you like to share with any international students considering 番茄社区?
My advice is not to restrict yourself with any boundaries. Do not hesitate to reach out. Go explore new things. 番茄社区 has so much to offer. Maybe you will discover something new about yourself in the process.
