Admission Requirements
Course pre-requisites | Completion of an undergraduate degree, from this or another university. Normally, applicants will only be considered if undergraduate degree or continued professional development is less than 10 years old. |
Additional selection requirements | Necessary English skills for classroom teaching Applicants’ previous degrees must include a sufficient amount of study in their intended teaching areas as specified below. For primary teaching - studies providing a basis for work in at least two areas of the primary curriculum (English, Maths, Science, SOSE, HPE, Technologies, Arts) and at least two years of study in a non-education discipline. For 1 to 9 teaching –a minimum of FOUR subjects normally undertaken within the previous 10 years in two teaching areas, selected from Mathematics, Science, Arts, English, Social and Environmental Education, Health and Physical Education, and Technology. For secondary teaching – a minimum of SIX subjects (with at least TWO subjects at level 3) normally undertaken within the previous 10 years in a secondary area of teaching to year 12, together with a minimum of FOUR subjects (TWO at level 2) normally undertaken within the previous 10 years in a secondary area of teaching to year 10. IELTS: International applicants and applicants with English as a second language must provide evidence of English language competence achieving an overall band score of 7.0 and no less than 7.0 in each sub band. The applicant will meet the cost of the testing. English test results must be no more than two years old. Applicants for this course are required by law to hold a valid Suitability to Work with Children Card before undertaking teaching practicum in a school. |
Special admission requirements | Candidates wishing to do concurrent studies in teaching disciplines to satisfy requirements for candidature, must be interviewed by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor and receive prior written approval to enrol concurrently at this, or another university. |

Students who receive an unsatisfactory grade will be: excluded from the program; or required to repeat the subject. Eligibility | Candidates may apply for advanced standing for previous tertiary study in accordance with the Advanced Standing for Previous Studies and Recognised Prior Learning policy associated procedures. |

Currency | Advanced standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 10 years prior to the commencement of this course. |
Expiry | Advanced standing gained for any subject shall be cancelled 10 years after the date of the examination upon which the advanced standing is based if, by then, the candidate has not completed the course of study prescribed for the degree. |
