Orientation Week will be busy a time for new arrivals at ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø’s Bebegu Yumba Campus in Townsville and Nguma-bada Campus in Cairns, with course introductions, a student lunch, networking night, market day, pancake breakfast and even a Colour Run among a flurry of activities planned.

The new students join another 8200 enrolled students either returning next week for another eventful year of study or starting a new course.

·¬ÇÑÉçÇø Vice Chancellor Professor Simon Biggs said it was an exciting atmosphere at both campuses as staff prepared to welcome new and returning students.

“It’s a special time for our new students, who are no doubt eager to begin their ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø journey,” he said.

“O Week offers the perfect opportunity for new students to experience the best of what ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø has to offer, both academically and socially. Our aim is to ensure they are well prepared to succeed in the years ahead.”

·¬ÇÑÉçÇø’s Prep program (enabling mature students and school leavers to gain the skills and knowledge they need to enter their preferred course of study), Nursing, Medicine and Engineering are the top courses for new domestic students at ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø this year while the Study Abroad Undergraduate Program, a Master of Marine Biology, Medicine and Nursing were the frontrunners for new international students.

“We are pleased see strong domestic student demand across a range of courses at ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø, which has been bolstered by an almost 20 per cent increase in international enrolments across both Cairns and Townsville compared to the same period last year,” Prof Biggs said.

“This underscores ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø’s commitment to quality education and research that continues to have real-world outcomes.”

O Week will conclude this Friday before classes begin next week.
