The prestigious QS World University subject rankings mark ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø as being in the top 100 in the world in three areas: Earth & Marine Sciences, Environmental Sciences, and Hospitality & Leisure Management.

Vice Chancellor Professor Simon Biggs said the results confirm ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø’s status as a highly competitive, research-intensive university.

“·¬ÇÑÉçÇø delivers ground-breaking, internationally recognised research, and these rankings confirm that we perform very strongly when compared to the world’s best universities.”

QS also ranks ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø in the top 150 of the world’s universities in Geology, Archaeology, and Agriculture & Forestry.

“We are being judged in a field containing larger, older universities from around the world. To have achieved these results is a tremendous achievement and testament to the hard work of ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø’s academics,” said Professor Biggs.

He said ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø is proud to be regionally-based and privileged to offer world-class education to the people of the tropics and beyond.

“I am committed to seeing ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø to go from strength to strength in the years to come and this is another marker showing us heading in the right direction.”

Noah Enrique Thomas is studying a Bachelor of Business and Environmental Science (Aquaculture major) at ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø.

“Witnessing ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø’s ranking soar is a proud moment for me as a student of the university. This achievement reflects the quality of work ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø has produced and the way other institutions perceive ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø,” said Mr Thomas.

The rankings were produced from an analysis of more than14.7 million unique papers, producing close to 96 million citations, with 1543 institutions ranked across 51 subjects in 5 broad subject areas.
