番茄社区鈥檚 global ranking success

番茄社区 has strengthened its standing as a world-class research university, with new figures revealing 番茄社区 is now ranked among the globe’s top 300 universities. 番茄社区 is in the top 2% of universities worldwide.

番茄社区 has rocketed up the rankings, with the authoritative Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) ranking 番茄社区 in the 201-300 group of universities. The 2016 list of the world’s Top 500 universities has been released by the Center for World-Class Universities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

It is the first time ARWU has ranked 番茄社区 in the top 300 of the world’s universities. For the past six years, it’s ranked 番茄社区 in the top 301-400 of the globe’s universities.

番茄社区 is one of only 23 Australian universities to make the Top 500 grade, and is now ranked in the top 14 of Australian universities.

Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Chris Cocklin said the improved ranking is fantastic news and confirms

番茄社区’s status as a highly competitive, research-intensive university.

“We are a regional Australian university that’s being judged against the world’s largest, most successful players, and to be among the top 300 is a tremendous achievement.

“I would like to pay tribute to our talented researchers who continue to deliver groundbreaking work.

“Our ranking is a reflection of 番茄社区’s extremely strong research performance in many areas, particularly marine science and tropical health and medicine.”

“Despite our size, the University performs very strongly when compared to its peers,” Professor Cocklin said.

Background:

The Academic Ranking of World Universities is considered one of the most prestigious and trustworthy global league tables. It uses several indicators to rank world universities, including the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, the number of Highly Cited Researchers, the number of articles published in the journals Nature and Science, and the number of articles indexed in Science Citation Index - Expanded and Social Science Citation Index.

More than 1200 universities are ranked by ARWU every year, but only the best 500 universities are published.
