The second, annual U.S. News rankings compares universities globally, focusing on their academic research and overall reputation.

·¬ÇÑÉçÇø is ranked 354^th in the world, up from 365^th last year. (The International Handbook of Universities (UNESCO) estimates there are more than 18,000 institutions around the world.)

The ranking places ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø 13^th of all Australian universities.

·¬ÇÑÉçÇø also performed very strongly in subject rankings.

·¬ÇÑÉçÇø is 22^nd in the world for “environment/ecology” (26th last year) and is 2^nd of all Australian universities.

·¬ÇÑÉçÇø ranked 61st in “plant and animal science” (70^th last year) and 5^th of all Australian universities.

The Best Global Universities rankings encompass the top 750 institutions from 57 countries and follow several other recent rankings that recognise ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø’s standing as a world-class university.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings recently ranked ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø in the top 251-300 of the world’s universities, and equal 10^th of the 31 Australian universities selected for the list.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities also recently ranked ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø in the 301-400 group of universities for the sixth year in a row.
