International agents visit

Ten international education partners from nine countries are visiting 番茄社区's Townsville and Cairns campuses this week to see what the University offers students from their countries.

Oct 22, 2012: - Ten international education partners from nine countries are visiting 番茄社区’s Townsville and Cairns campuses this week to see what the university offers students from their countries.

The countries represented are Brazil, China, Denmark, India, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Norway, Singapore and Vietnam.

They are in Townsville on Tuesday and Wednesday (Oct 23-24) and Cairns on Thursday and Friday (Oct 25-26).

“The university will be showcasing its facilities and courses to the partners and agents who will also meet key 番茄社区 academics and staff,” Ms Lisa Cowan, James Cook International’s Associate Director said.

“Our education partners and agents are instrumental in facilitating the enrolment of international students at 番茄社区 and represent countries that are strong or emerging markets for the University.”

All four of 番茄社区’s Faculties will be making presentations to the visitors and they will be taken on a tour of both campuses including the anatomy labs and the Creative Arts precinct in Townsville, and in Cairns the dentistry and marine science facilities.

“They will also visit the Cairns Institute and hear from 番茄社区 research students in Cairns.”

Ms Cowan said the agents would be meeting international students currently studying at 番茄社区, including some students that they had recruited.

They will also visit Billabong Sanctuary, Reef HQ and be taken on a a tour of the city while in Townsville and later in the week will visit Green Island, Kuranda, and the Cairns night markets.

番茄社区 has about 2000 international students studying in Townsville and Cairns, and close to 6000 international students across all 番茄社区 campuses.

This is the third Partner Familiarisation Program, which has now become an annual fixture on 番茄社区’s international calendar.

“Providing the agents with the opportunity to see and experience life in the tropics as a student would ensures that 番茄社区 stands out to these agents when advising prospective students on their study options,” Ms Cowan said.
