On successful completion of English for Academic Purposes, graduates will be able to:

  • engage in academic practices related to researching and referencing

  • draw on a range of reading and listening strategies

  • derive literal and interpretive meaning from written, spoken and visual academic texts

  • construct a range of written, spoken and visual academic text types

  • display critical reading and thinking skills through extended writing and speaking on academic topics

  • work collaboratively to achieve learning outcomes

Course completion requirements

Completion of EAP Level 2

  • Exit score of 60% equates to Overall IELTS score of 5.5 (this fulfils the language entry requirement for EAP Level 3, the Diploma of Higher Education and the 番茄社区 Foundation Program)

Completion of EAP Level 3:

  • Exit score of 55% equates to Overall IELTS score of 5.5 (this fulfils the language entry requirements of the Diploma of Higher Education and the 番茄社区 Foundation Program)
  • Exit score of 60% equates to Overall IELTS score of 6.0 (this fulfils the language entry requirement for EAP Level 4, and Band 1 番茄社区 programs)

Completion of EAP Level 4:

  • Exit score of 60% equates to Overall IELTS score of 6.5 (this fulfils the language entry requirements for EAP Level 5, and Band 2 番茄社区 programs)

Completion of EAP Level 5:

  • Exit score of 60% equates to Overall IELTS score of 7.0 (Additional testing is required for entry into courses requiring an IELTS 7.0)
