The Accounting Major for this course is jointly accredited by CPA Australia and the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ).

Students who complete the accredited award may join either or both of the professional accounting bodies (CPA Australia, and/or the Chartered Accountants Australian and New Zealand). To become full members of the accounting profession and practise as an accountant, they must then complete the professional programs of whichever body they join and undertake the required number of years of professional experience.

Special admission requirements

Applicants must nominate one of the Business majors as part of their application. A second major and/or minor(s) can be chosen after admission to the course. Applicants who are admitted to the Bachelor of Business under an Articulation Agreement are subject to the terms of that agreement.

To be eligible for accreditation with Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA Australia) and/or the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) students must complete the Accounting major as well as 9 credit points consisting of the following subjects:

BX3112:03 Taxation Law

Supplementary exam for final subject

A student who has failed a single subject towards the award in their final teaching period and who gained 40% or more of the marks for that subject, may be granted a supplementary examination in that subject. However if that subject is required for accreditation, then the criteria specified by that accreditation will apply.

Advanced Standing

Eligibility

Students may apply for advanced standing for previous tertiary study in accordance with the Advanced Standing and Articulation policy and associated procedures.

Advanced standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 6 years prior to the commencement of this course.

Expiry

Advanced standing gained for any subject shall be cancelled 16 years after the date of the examination upon which the advanced standing is based if, by then, the student has not completed the course of study prescribed for the degree.
