Admission Requirements
Course pre-requisites | Completion of an AQF level 5 Diploma of Teaching or an equivalent or higher qualification in Education that includes a Pass in professional experience. |
Minimum English language proficiency requirements | Applicants of non-English speaking backgrounds must meet the English language proficiency requirements of Band 3c – Schedule II of the 番茄社区 Admissions Policy. The cost of testing will be met by the applicant. English test results must be no more than two years old. |
Special admission requirements | Experienced teachers who do not meet the above requirements may be permitted by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor to be admitted to the course and be required to complete such subjects and other work as may be prescribed in addition to completing the requirements specified below. Note: This course does not lead to teacher registration. Students admitted to the Bachelor of Education Professional Development will be required to prepare a study plan and have it registered and approved by the relevant teacher registration authority and / or their employer before they commence study. |
Post admission requirements | Suitability to Work with Children Card (blue card): This course includes prescribed professional or clinical placements that may involve contact with children under 18 years of age. Students are required to obtain a Suitability to Work with Children Card (which involves a criminal history check undertaken by the Queensland Police) before the start of the first placement. Students must retain a current Suitability to Work with Children Card for the duration of their course, as failure to do so will result in the termination of their admission to the course. Course learning outcomes | The Bachelor of Education Professional Development builds on student’s existing teaching qualifications to enable them to meet the same Course Learning Outcomes as the Bachelor of Education courses. Students will be required to enrol in ED4991 Independent Study where they prepare a portfolio that demonstrates evidence of attainment of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Students who enrol in the Bachelor of Education Professional Development will be required to prepare a study plan and have it registered and approved by Queensland College of Teachers before they begin their study.
