Admission Requirements
Course pre-requisites | Entry requirements for this course are consistent with the Pathways to Qualifications in the (AQF level 8) Guidelines for Postgraduate Diplomas. Applicant must be a registered nurse. Completion of a bachelor degree in nursing, or a bachelor degree with honours in nursing, or equivalent degree, from this or another university Other qualifications recognised by the Head of the School of Nursing Sciences and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Molecular Sciences as equivalent to the above. Evidence of professional attainments including professional experience in nursing that meets with the approval of the faculty on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Nursing, Midwifery & Nutrition; and the Pro Vice Chancellor of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Molecular Sciences. |
Minimum English Language Proficiency Requirements | Students of non English speaking backgrounds must have an adequate English language capacity assessed under the Australian International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Maximum allowed | 12 credit points A student who has passed a postgraduate subject at this University or at another recognised education provider, which is deemed by the Pro Vice Chancellor of the faculty, on the advice of the Head of the School of Nursing, Midwifery & Nutrition, to be equivalent to subjects offered in the course may be granted credit for those subjects up to a maximum of 12 credit points. Students with entry qualifications equivalent to three years or more of undergraduate or postgraduate study, plus a minimum of five years nursing related professional experience considered suitable by the Head of the School of Nursing, Midwifery & Nutrition, may be granted credit in recognition of prior learning up to a maximum of 6 credit points of study. |
Currency | Advanced standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 10 years prior to the commencement of this course. |
Expiry | Advanced standing gained for any subject shall be cancelled 16 years after the date of the examination upon which the advanced standing is based if, by then, the candidate has not completed the course. |
