Admission Requirements
Course pre-requisites | Completion of an appropriate undergraduate degree, equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree, with Honours I or II, from this or another university; or Other qualifications or practical experience recognised by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Law, Business and the Creative Arts as equivalent to the above; or Completion of the Postgraduate Diploma of Economics from this university. Entry requirements for this course are consistent with the Pathways to Qualifications in the (AQF) Guidelines for Masters degrees. |

Additional course rules | Students can complete the Master of Economics (Coursework) by one of two options. Option 1All coursework (24304-CW-24U) with a major NB: Students interested in seeking admission to Option 2 should complete the core subjects before any of the subjects in the major. Subjects in the major should be completed in year 2. Or Option 2Coursework and minor thesis (24304-TH-24U) Students wishing to select option 2 must complete the core subjects below and achieve a course GPA of at least 5.5. Admission to option 2 is subject to the approval of the Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of the Head of School following successful completion of the core subjects. NB: Students pursuing Option 2 cannot complete a major. |

Course progression requisites | Candidates with limited prior economics may be required to vary the normal course structure and take EC5103:03 Business Economics (or equivalent). Similarly, candidates who have limited quantitative skills may be required to take EC5203:03 Statistics for Business (or equivalent). |

Advanced Standing
Eligibility | Candidates may apply for advanced standing for previous tertiary study in accordance with the Advanced Standing for Previous Studies and Recognised Prior Learning policy associated procedures. |
Maximum allowed | 24 credit points, unless part of approved articulation process. |
Currency | Advanced standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 4 years prior to the commencement of this course. |
Expiry | Advanced standing gained for any subject shall be cancelled 12 years after the date of the examination upon which the advanced standing is based if, by then, the candidate has not completed the course of study prescribed for the degree. |
Other restrictions | Candidates who are granted advanced standing for the Postgraduate Diploma of Economics will be required to surrender that award prior to graduating with the Master of Economics. Advanced standing will not be granted for work experience or undergraduate studies. |

Exit with lesser award | Candidates who exit the course prior to completion, and have completed 24 credit points of study including the appropriate subjects, may be eligible to receive the award of Postgraduate Diploma of Economics. |
